The CHS President annually appoints an Awards Committee Chairman.  The Chairman forms a committee to endorse and approve, for  Executive Committee ratification, nominees for awards and scholarships.  Awards may be submitted throughout the year, for consideration.

 The Order of the Chief’, with Distinction:

Medal-CHS Blu & Yellow

This medal is considered the highest level of award for a member of the Society. This award recognizes an individual  who has made sustained contributions, acts and/or services that have improved the image, reputation and or efficiency of the Society.  The award consists of a blue and yellow ribbon, affixed to the Order of the Chief medal.

The following criteria must be met for the nomination to be considered by the Awards Committee:

  • The nominee must be a current active member of the Society.
  • The nominee must have already received the Order of the Chief.
  • The nomination must be in writing but it may be in letter or e-mail format.
  • The nomination must have been endorsed by the appropriate Regional Commissioner.
  • The nominee has demonstrated a pattern of achievement that reflects long term service and/or contributions to the Society and this pattern of service/contributions, must have continued in the period of time since the nominee received the Order of the Chief.
  • This award will not be bestowed for a single act or achievement.
  • The nominee must be a current, active  member of the Society and have a minimum of five continuous years as an active member.

Medal-CHS Green

This award recognizes an individual  who has made a signification contribution, performed a service or completed an act that directly improves the image, reputation and or efficiency of the Society.  The award consist of a green ribbon affixed to the Chief’s Medal.

The following criteria must be met for the nomination to be considered by the Awards Committee:

  • The nominee must be a current active member of the Society.  This may be waived by the Awards Committee
  • The nominee must have a minimum of one year, as a member of the Society.  This may be waived by the awards committee.
  • The nomination must be in writing but it may be in letter or e-mail format.
  • The nomination must have been endorsed by the appropriate Regional Commissioner.
  • The nominee must have performed an outstanding service or other contribution that directly improves the image, reputation and or efficiency of the Society.
  • This award can be bestowed for a single act, achievement or contribution.

Chief's Prize-2
This award recognizes leadership shown particularly as related to youth programs, heritage, culture, academics or something of overall benefit to the Clan or the Society. This award can also be in recognition of long-term service to the Clan or the Society.   Only one prize is awarded annually and it is usually in the form of an engraved pewter card plate.

The following criteria must be met for the nomination to be considered by the President:

  • The nominee must be a current active member of the Society.
  • The nomination is submitted directly to the President.
  • Only one Prize is awarded annually.
  • The nomination must be in writing but it may be in letter or e-mail format.
  • The nominee must have shown leadership as related to youth programs, heritage, culture, academics or something of overall benefit to the Clan or the Society. Alternatively, this award may be bestowed for long term service to the Clan or Society.

Claude A. Henderson Recognition Program

Fellow Award

Fellow Award:  The Claude A. Henderson Recognition Program is an endowment program designed to recognize clan members who have provided sustained financial support of Clan Henderson activities and events. The program is self-sustaining in that the award is granted to those donors who has contributed a minimum of $1,000 dollars to the Claude A. Henderson Memorial Fund. The contributions can be over a sustained period of time.  Awardees are recognized as a Claude A. Henderson Fellow and will receive a certificate and appropriate device.

Scholarship Award the Claude A. Henderson Memorial Scholarship is presented to an individual who has provided sustained or significant support of Clan or Society activities. Recognition is in the form of a certificate and a scholarship awarded in the  amount of $500.

The following criteria must be met:

  • The nominee must be a current active member of the Society.
  • The nomination is generated by the President and presented to the Executive Committee for approval.
  • Only one Scholarship is awarded annually.
  • The nomination must be in writing but it may be in letter or e-mail format.
  • The nominee must have demonstrated sustained leadership for overall benefit to the Clan or the Society.

A High Commissioner has the authority to make an award he deems appropriate for service to the Clan or the Society.

 Society Honorary Membership

While not specifically an award, the President and/or the Vice President, Members of the Clan Henderson Society have the authority to bestow honorary membership within the Clan Henderson Society to select individuals.  These individuals are considered active members of the Society and are exempt from annual dues requirements.
